Magical Bytes January 6, 2024
Friends, family, solitaries, and groups who come to commune with North Georgia Solitaries (NGS), it has been a year of change. The growth and change will continue.
NGS has been a labor of love from a handful of people for over 15 years by Charissa and David Iskiwitch, Ron Wheeler, and others. In recent years Jonathon Bellehaven has done, and will still do, a lot of support work for the group. There are traditions they started that should be brought back. Charissa Iskiwitch financially supported NGS for venues and supplies for many years. We are thankful for everything everyone has done over the years to make NGS a successful resource for the community.
Ron Wheeler, Lady Ursa and I were asked to take leadership of NGS and continue bringing sabbats and communal activities to North Georgia pagans, witches and solitaries. We started by bringing rituals back to the last Samhain.
Since then, we have created a web site, www.northgeorgiasolitaires.com which is a resource for North Georgia. Sign up for newsletters and events! The initial cost of the website for the first year was donated by me.
We have a Discord server with a link off the web site. Why do we have this since FB has served us well and will continue to do so? Social media can be a fickle mistress, so having a backup place for us is a good idea. It also allows for activities such as communal gaming, streaming of movies, and voice discussions.
Charissa gifted the group by paying for the Red Top Mount State Park reservations through Mabon, most sabbats include camping weekends. Lady Ursa paid for/donated the Samhain reservation.
One more gift and a tremendous opportunity, Charissa set aside a weekend for a festival for NGS and the public. We have been reaching out to people in the group and to people from other North Georgia groups and covens to provide classes. We are excited to help sponsor a camping festival for North Georgia. To make this successful this year and in the following years, we need you to be excited, register to attend, and tell your friends!
The festival is “What We Do in Magic”: May 31st – June 2nd at Red Top Mountain Park, Pioneer primitive Campground.
Here are things to look forward to:
A potluck on Friday Evening
There will be a main ritual Saturday evening.
There are at least 2 tracks of classes, and with enough participation we will have 3 tracks.
We have been and will be soliciting a few vendors.
Drum circles and board games are planned for the evenings’ entertainment.
Children’s Crafts are planned. They will require parental supervision and volunteers.
Ron Wheeler and Archonstone will be providing readings for love donations for NGS.
Registration is available on www.northgeorgiasolitaires.com
$50 for admission and camping all weekend.
$35 for all weekend if you plan to commute.
There will be day passes.
So support your group! Donate at the Sabbats so we can keep this going. Volunteer for setup, take down, and at the festival we will need even more help.
